Using a selection of accounts taken from discussion groups with female students combined with moving image and collage, Walking the Long Way Home forms a monologue of collective narratives as a window into female experience, and the phantoms encountered when walking home alone. The piece represents the anxieties and feelings, and the intrinsic fear of gendered violence, which stems from deep-rooted, patriarchal systems and values.
Walking the Long Way Home was exhibited at SYRUP presents SPIRAL (Guest Projects, London, 2018) forming a multi-media installation, photography by Bella Riza.
